Azusa Canyon OHV Fire

Well, went to 4x4 for a few hours, as we were running through the mud, we noticed a fire quickly spreading up on the main road in/out. Entire OHV park raced to the exit, one Toyota lost a wheel right at the river crossing under the bridge, made it out, drove through the fire to beat the road closure, behind me the power lines fell stranding a lot of people. Early news reports stated that birds were sent up to evacuate those stranded. Anyone here get caught behind and airlifted out???

Wow man. You’re lucky you got out. Crazy day off-road.

It was like a damn movie! Felt bad for the dude that lost a wheel, but I had my 4 year old and 10 year old with me, father instincts said “don’t stop, get kids to safety”. His truck was well out of harms way when it broke, so I’m sure he is ok. But yeah, crazy day. And to think I almost just stayed home to watch football...lol! Gave my kids some lifetime memories today!

I’d be the same. Family comes first and the job of a dad to keep the kids alive it runs strong.

Feel the heat. That’s a lot of people leaving. Like a mad max scene haha Crazy.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! We all bottlenecked at a crossing, matter of fact the dude in the Toyota with the fan in back cut ahead of me on the video and right at the crossing is where his wheel broke off and caused a huge backup. Worst possible place for it to happen
