Just a thought, Toyota's are infamous for rusted chassis' s, I was wondering if anyone thought this might be a good way to prevent it.

I know first gens are bad about that but have any 2nd gens died from frame rot?

First off I have been investigating this, so it's hear say!

2nd gen Tacoma’s are experiencing frame rust also ! That's about all I have heard. Would you broadcast that type of info if you owned one !

I havent heard much re: frame rot on 2nd gen. The first gens had some issues, but i still see a ton of them here in RI.

I can tell you first hand that 2nd gens have issues with frame rot. I have a 2006 TRD DCSB 4WD 4.0L that suffers from some rust on my frame. I'm not sure the extent of it but it looks pretty bad IMO. I heard that 04's have had a recall on the frame issues, and I'm not sure about 05's. But I have a friend that is pretty high up that works for Toyota as a international sales associate (not sure of his exact title) but he travels a lot and is always talking about high dollar deals he has made for Toyota, and this guys house is OFF THE HOOK!! And he said that he heard from the grape vine that 06's are next in line for the recall. But that's "what I heard" so take it with a grain of salt...

Same thing hear! It seems little pieces of information are starting to leak out about how bad it is and not just 06's, all 2nd Gen's!
It appears the best solution is a "Hot dipped Galvanized solution" to control the rust situation and has been known for a long time, but it must be applied to the frame at time of manufacture, to late when it's in your vehicle.

Wait till those people who have spent 40 to 50K for a new one find out they bough a rust bucket that can't be fixed (or won't).

I work at a Toyota dealership and once and awhile I see frames getting dropped off so I talked to the guy dropping them off and he said the same as we heard the 1st gens defiantly and some sequoias and a few 2001 to 2004s he has delivered but he said the new frames being dropped off are actually dipped so all the frame in and out are covered but it's still hush hush on the mechanics side of the shop he said it really depends where you live with salt on the roads for winter but he did say a few taco frames went to Arizona
