‘99 SR5 extra cab 5 speed manual

@Bogunn posted and said he’s using this one. I trust his judgement that it works. It’s $29.

Yeah. It’s been great. I had an issue with the first one I got becoming unlinked intermittently. I emailed their customer service and they sent me a replacement no questions asked and I got it in two days.
The new one I got has stayed linked up without a single issue. Plus it’s nice to know that the company stands behind their warranty.
If you look at the reviews they’re awesome.

Thanks! Is there one here y’all would recommend?

Plus it’s a lot cheaper to buy the Veepeak. You can spend the extra money on a decent app like OBD Fusion and still save money.
Also, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) is better because it doesn’t run your battery down if you leave it plugged in to your vehicle.

I went ahead and purchased the VeePeak that y’all recommended. I also purchased the OBD fusion. I couldn’t connect. The VeePeak support guy told me they were aware of this issue and told me I needed to connect my iPhone to iTunes and retrieve a UDID number for him, and he would be able to give me an unapproved app that would make it connect. I was unable to get the number so I called Apple and they didn’t know what a UDID number was (at least the guy I talked to didn’t), and they advised against attempting to get a third party app. I guess I’ll return the VeePeak.

Wow. Sorry man. I hate that. Like I had said, I had trouble with the first one staying connected but it still works. They sent me a new one that works flawlessly and I got to keep the old one that still works great for diagnostics. That sounds really shady about the third party app. I wouldn’t do that either.
Did you email the customer service that’s listed on the box?
They review really high all around for the scanner and the customer service. Sorry you’re having trouble. I’d probably demand a new one since in their warranty they promise to replace it.

Also, after you start your truck and have it plugged in the OBD2 port you can see if the Veepeak is connected by going on your iPhone to: Settings, and then Bluetooth to see if it is showing up on the list (Don’t try to connect, just see if it’s showing up).
Then go to the OBD Fusion app and go to: Settings, Preferences, Communications, and select Bluetooth LE in the settings.
If it is showing up and you’ve selected these settings you should be able to hit Connect at the bottom of the screen and it will work.

Again, sorry you’re having trouble. Not trying to steer you wrong. They have 4.5/5 stars with over 1,000 reviews on Amazon and their customer service was great with me.

Yes, I emailed them at the address on the back of the box: support@veepeak.com. I fear another one might do the same thing, but perhaps I should try it. It connect for about 3 seconds, then wouldn’t do it again. Same thing in the wife’s 2012 Camry.

Perhaps I’ll write the guy back and tell him what people are saying and see if a replacement should be tried. Thanks for your input!

When I talked to customer service they told me they were having problems with the new iOS update connecting but they were aware of the problem and resolved it with a new update to the scanner and sent an updated one out right away. I haven’t had any trouble since. Sounds like the rep you got ahold of is either inept or giving you some shady advice.

I’m beginning to realize that!
