2018 off-road with lifts

Looking into lifting my 18 Tacoma I love the way it rides don’t want to sacrifice the smooth ride but I like to moderately off-road. Let me know how you like your lift!

If you off road once in a while and do light to moderately and use it mostly as a daily driver I’d do a 2” OME lift and put 265/75/16 on it. You’ll still get good mpg and have the extra clearance for off-road without having to replace UCA or rubbing.
If you want more and on a budget then I’d get OME 887 front coils and bilsteins 5100’s front and back cheaper do an AAL in back or get the Dakar leaf pack. You’ll probably also want 285/75/16 tires and you’ll want to get some after market wheels with a 0 or -6 offset. The stock offset isn’t low enough for those tire without wheel spacers and I personally wouldn’t get wheel spacers.
If you have money I’d get the King OEM performance series kit or the OME BP-51.

Since you have a 2018 with TSS-P you’ll want to go to the dealer and have them recalibrate the system for the lift.
I had an interesting thought about this.

The main radar thing in the badge. Stock, on the 18's, the badge/radar is right in the middle of the grill. If you did a lift, and put the TRD Pro grill on, I wonder if you'd need to recalibrate the radar? The radar location on the TRD Pro grill is at the bottom of the grill, so it'd be several inches lower than the not-TRD Pro grill. Wonder if the lift + pro grill would cancel out the height difference?

That’s possible. Let us know if you find out that will work.

What specific OME kit would you suggest for this set up? From what I've read they make 3 setups for different loads and weight configuration, sport, medium and heavy , without uca.. looking to be like you said light offroading but still good daily driver? Thanks!

The heavier springs are for increased constant weight... like an aftermarket bumper. If you aren’t going to put an after market bumper on a medium is fine.

Good info!

I was confused for a second by your guys user names haha. I though 17 was the one that asked the question then saw it was 18 but 17 likes the information.

Ya that’s what I’ve heard that the radar won’t work if you lift it without a pro grill
