Appleplay?

Curious if members continue to use the stock programming or switched to appleplay?

I assume you’re talking about Apple CarPlay. I don’t think Toyota will ever offer true Apple CarPlay capability because they have invested so much into their Entune. It would be nice if they offered the option for Android and Apple capable devices though.
We do have the capability of using Siri with Apple Eyes Free by holding the answer/talk button for about 3 seconds. I use it about 50/50 since some options aren’t available through Siri and some aren’t available through Entune.

I was just reading a story over at CNET.com https://cnet.co/2pLVrgp Toyota just showed off the 2019 Rav4 with Entune 3.0 which is suppose to have Apple Carplay. I'm an android user, that gives me a little hope that Toyota is changing their in car strategy, and hopefully we get Android Auto with a simple update (fingers crossed)

Just bought a 2018 TRD Sport double cab fully loaded. I wish I didn’t spend the money on the premium and tech package but I wanted leather seats and a halfway decent stereo system (was told that was the only way to get both and I really didn’t want to go with a limited edition with all the chrome trim). Quite disappointed with the entertainment system which seems like something that would be premium in 2012 or something. I expected a 2018 model to have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto or at least be able to direct voice commands to my Android phone while using it as my media source. My 2015 BMW does so without a fancy navigation package. Maybe someday I’ll gut the system and put in a better aftermarket one.

Sweet. Thanks for linking that. I hadn’t seen the Entune 3.0 with CarPlay.
That new rav4 looks great compared to the current model.

The current Entune system is very capable but it is also archaic in a lot of ways. They definitely could have added a lot of features they didn’t. The lack of integrated CarPlay and Android Auto is annoying. And the voice recognition system isn’t all that great.

Definitely learned that the voice system isn’t great. After training the voice system I found myself having to make several attempts just to get directions to a simple address here in Honolulu on "Bishop Street ". I swear it was as if I was speaking another language lol. I dare not even try Hawaiian Street names lol. Luckily I don’t need navigation to get around here. It would be nice to have navigation from my iPhone or Android phone with real time traffic showing though....oh well.
