    Taco lift

get an OME (old man emu) suspension lift. You can get the whole package new front shocks and springs, rear shocks and shackles, and new taller Dakar leaf springs for about $1200. Affordable functional 3in lift. Another option would be adjustable bilstein 5100s up front.

    Lift options

You can't go more than 3in with just a suspension lift. That's the limit for the front CVs. After 3in you need to use a body lift or a drop bracket lift. Neither are functional lifts for offroad. If you are just going for appearance/looks than go for it. With a drop bracket lift like the rough...

    3.4L high idle

Could be either of those. It could also be dirty MAF, vacuum leak, or throttle body stuck slightly open.

    Phone holder?

I have the iOttie air vent one and it has never fallen off or moved much. You pretty much named all your options outside of mounting something permanently to the dash.

    Update & opinions wanted

This is very subjective. Scott prefers the 1st one while I wouldn't put that on my truck for free. They are completely different style bumpers. Its your truck so think which one you like better. Personally I prefer the more plain look of schrockworks or relentless bumpers. Other people like...

    Atkinson cycle 3.5

Yes but things usually get corrected fairly quickly. Also, it has said those figures for many years. It may not be the best idea to assume something on wiki is correct on first glance but if you look back and it always stays the same its probably right. Also if you find the information on other...

    Atkinson cycle 3.5

It shows it on the engine page on Wikipedia and I've read about it on different forums. Also Toyota test engines at 87 octane but Lexus they test at 91 octane same engine different power numbers. I suspect manufacturers could make higher power and more efficient engines with higher octane and...

    Power steering leak?

Make sure you get an SAE J2050 rated hose. Its designed for higher pressure and ATF / power steering fluid. Edit: just thought that's probably the return line in the picture? If so that would be J189 or J1532 hose. The auto parts store will usually give you fuel line which will turn soft from...

    LED bulbs

This is right. You just need to stick a resistor inline with the LED to add a little more load. You don't need to spend the money on expensive Sylvania branded resistor. A resister is a resister. You can buy a 6 ohm one for $2.

    Led Interior Lights

Doesn't the truck dim the old incandescent / halogen slightly when going from running to off? LEDs are sensitive to voltage levels instead of dimming like old type bulbs they just shut off. Either way, it seems like a voltage drop is happening once you turn the truck off.

    Atkinson cycle 3.5

The 2GR-FSE is tuned for 87 to 91 octane. At 87 octane its 304 HP and 278 lb/ft at 91 octane it makes 314 HP and 280 lb/ft. The 2nd gen 1GR-FE on 87 octane is 236 HP and 266 lb/ft on 91 octane it goes to 240 HP and 278 lb/ft. I'm pretty sure every Toyota VVT-i engine does this. I think it...

1st gen vs 2nd gen tacoma

I'll try to be more clear. On my 1st gen, I can swap out the alternator, power steering, starter, serpentine and accessory belts, CV axles, struts, leaf springs, spark plugs/coil packs, o2 sensor, brakes, etc after work in my driveway with a jack and basic tools. Oil, trans, diff, and transfer...
