Hello All!

I’m in the process of shopping for a 2019 TRD OFF ROAD.
Your thoughts on standard verses automatic transmission?
I drove the 2020 today for comparison, and while I like the (it’s about time) adjustable height for the drivers seat, I did not like the 2020 automatic transmission as it felt off timing. Anyone else have this experience? the 2019 was much more smooth and seamless.
Also...driving experience for short bed verses long bed? While lifestyle is the top priority on choice...have you noticed a difference in road handling between the longer/shorter wheel base? Aside from off roading which would coincide best with a short bed for quick versatility and hauling over rocky terrain etc.

The transmission learns while you drive the vehicle. A 2019 probably has some test drive miles on it so it has learned whoever has driven it. The tranny you get is all personal preference. On the 2nd gen, the 6 speed manual was garbage. Toyota says they improved it but I'm not sure.

Both bed sizes handle the same on or off road. If you wheel in tight trails or are rock crawling, the short bed would be better to reduce rear overhang. However the long bed will function as a truck better than the short bed.

Thank you!!!
How about the grille interchange? With new sensors etc, the black Tacoma heritage/pro grille isn’t recommended on 2019 models?
I’m not a fan of chrome

Agreed I like the MT vers AT. But that’s what I was searching for anyway. Seems like the AT on even the 2019 was gear hunting. Heard there is a fix though.
