Hey y’all. Just bought a 2021 limited. Anyone have any experience with all the technology these have?

I’m trying to swap out the front and rear bumper but can’t find jack crap that will accommodate all my sensors.
I called Toyota and they were no help nor was a local dealership service manager.
Figured y’all could help if anyone. Thanks in advance
 
First, check out some other Tacoma forums to see if anyone else has found a bumper solution that you like. If that fails, you may have to visit the individual bumper manufacturers to see if any of them have a solution for you. IIRC, I have seen several bumpers that have sensor holes, or at least claim they can add them if requested.

No way Toyota would get involved in this, as any recommendation could result in a law suit. They're very careful about this. However, you may wish to inquire whether any or all of your warranty could be voided if you add aftermarket bumpers.

Our TRD Pro has tons of technology too. Maybe equivalent to your Limited, or perhaps slightly less. Most of the stuff we were familiar with from previous vehicles, so no problem for us. I need to add that We do NOT use all the junk that has been added to the radio. We use it to listen to Sirius XM and paired our phones so we could use them hands-free. The rest is useless for us. BTW, I've never liked Toyota's NAV system as it has always failed us when we really needed it.

I can speak for the rear end that you will lose your Blind Spot monitors with any change. No one seems to make a high clearance bumper because the BSM Sensors are so huge and live in the bumper. Think you'll need to go the custom route if you do that. As for the Front End my 2019 has no issues I'm aware of when I change but it seems the 2020/21 has the new front cam and maybe more I'm unaware of. Definitely check some other forums as they have a lot of info out there.

Thank you. All this technology is new to my. I had an 07 and it was as basic as you can get lol I appreciate the response and thoughts.
 
My friend owns a body shop and told me with the bumper sensors you have to be careful how thick the paint is applied to them because it will throw off the distance perception and they will not work properly .Especially if you have the cruise control distance setting from the car in front of you ! :eek:WTF
 
And he said the new cars with the safety steering assist to keep you in your lane is a nightmare to do realignment after a crash ! I like old cars ! Lol

Just received a catalog today called Extreme Terrain. They have lots of bumpers and other stuff. Noticed one or more rear bumpers claiming compatible with factory back-up sensors. Their web site is www.extremeterrain.com - you might check it out.

Closest one I could find is this one. Is this what you saw? It does say backup sensors and not blindspot though so not sure of the semantics . https://www.extremeterrain.com/tacoma-pro-series-rear-bumper-textured-black-58-421045.html

From my looks it actually might work. Note the mesh on the sides to allow radar through. But I would contact someone to see it this is the case.
 
Yep, I think that is the one. I would give them a call so you can talk directly to the folks there who should know all about their products. I only glanced at their products as I'm not really interested in doing much external mods to my truck.
