Does the iphone 6 ( not plus) work with Toyota entune?

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section, feel free to move if you want. My question is about the iphone 6, I've never had an iphone, I've always had android, my current phone is a Galaxy S3. I'm due for an upgrade and I really like the iphone 6(the plus is waaaay to big!) I've been doing some research and I've read some people are having problems with Bluetooth not functioning properly. This is a VERY important feature for me,I keep all my music on my phone and stream through my truck stereo,I have a 2013 Tacoma with entune and JBL subwoofer. I'm sure someone here has gotten the iphone 6,& I would very much appreciate anything you can tell me about how well it works through your truck radio. Can you make and receive calls? Does it load your address book?Do you get a "text message" alert on your truck radio screen when you get a text? Does the Toyota app suite work wirelessly through bluetooth? Sorry for all the questions, anything and everything you can tell me would be very much appreciated! Thank You!

Just bought my truck yesterday and find all text, phone, and related Bluetooth apps work seamlessly with my 6plus.

this is really starting to annoy me too ... I have the Entune app in my phone (iphone 5s) and have the phone BT'd to the truck, but when I hit apps like Pandora/Traffic/Weather it gives me the "cannot connect" error ...

Any reason why Messages never truly links with my display?
I know that on the iphone (if that is what you have) you have to go into the bluetooth settings and enable notifications ... I wish the entune had a button to read the text messages to you like in my Fusion ...

also, in reading around online, a lot of people saying that they had to delete all of their text messages, and then re-pair the phone to the car ... something about having too many messages for Entune to handle ... cant confirm that though as I havent gone that route ...

is there a shortcut to having your text messages read to you? For example, in my fusion, you are notified when you receive a text message, and if you press the OK button on the steering wheel, it will read the message to you ... never taking your eyes off the road.

with the toyota system then only notification I get is the alert tone from my phone (if not on vibrate) and then I have to push the phone button on the radio, then select messages, and then select the message and it will read it ... a lot of "eyes off the road" in that process ... and I live in SoCal where the freeways are always hectic, have to stay alert.

so please tell me I am missing something ...

I finally got my Iphone 6 to work with Entune Audio Plus by doing the following:

Bluetooth® Pairing Setup Instructions:

Do not attempt while driving.

On the Radio System

  • 1. Press the Home button.
  • 2. Select the Setup icon in the upper right corner of the display.
  • 3. Select Bluetooth®
  • 4. Select Add
On the Phone

  • 1. Select Settings from the applications menu.
  • 2. Select Bluetooth®
  • 3. Ensure Bluetooth® is ON.
  • 4. Select your Multimedia System Name from the list.
  • 5. Enter the PIN or confirm the passkey shown on the vehicle display.
  • 6. Select OK or Pair if necessary.
  • After the initial pairing is completed, and if applicable to your multimedia system, enable messaging features by accessing the phone's Bluetooth® menu.
  • First, on your iphone select the "Information" symbol to the right of the Connected system and turn on "Show Notifications"
  • Make sure that “Allow Notifications” and “Show on Lock Screen” are enabled. This is found in Settings>Notifications>Messages on your Iphone
  • Then, disconnect/reconnect the phone using the multimedia system's controls.
This is almost the same as shown on the Toyota's website ; however, I added the next to last step which seemed to be necessary (at least in my situation). Now everything works (phone, audio, messaging).

ok, so for example, say I send you a new text message ... if your phone were in a laptop bag in the backseat, on vibrate, 1) how would you know that you received a text message, and 2) how would you have it read to you by the entune assuming that you were notified in step 1?

I have to push the phone button on the radio, then select messages, and then select the message and it will read it ... is that true for you as well?

If my phone were in a laptop bag, for example, and synced with Entune via Bluetooth, a notification would appear on the Entune Screen showing the message source. Using the touchscreen, I would access the message which would be read tby Entune. Using an Iphone, I could not respond to the message, however, using Entune.

Mine has had the same issue since day one. I'll bet if anyone asks Toyota what the problem is, they would say it's got something to do with the iPhone and not Entune. Well guess what, jackass..? Toyota created Entune to function with the iPhone, not the other way around!! What's the point of offering a feature that doesn't work?? That would be like saying a vehicle has Bluetooth, but only displays battery life...
