We have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4 door TRD 4x4 with about 160k miles. We are the second owner and the maintenance has always been done right and on time. The last couple months we've noticed it's started to rumble and shake. It usually does it when first starting in the morning, but has also done it randomly throughout the day while out and about. Last week while out shopping ... I started it and it rumbled so bad that it died out. I tried to start it back up immediately and it wouldn't start. Then waited a few minutes and it started right up. This is the first time it's died out and acted like it didn't want to start. The check engine light did come on (it comes and goes randomly since this problem started) and the code just says misfire. We've changed the spark plugs thinking that would help, but hasn't.
Has anyone else experienced this? This is our second tacoma and never had any problems. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated.
