how to buy a Tacoma section_or is there already one?

This will be my first Tacoma purchase and I've been all over the internet looking for specific packages to my region.

For example; I'm in Texas and if I wanted to find a regional-specific package like Tacoma TSS, I can't find how to buy one anywhere. I can't find it on the official Toyota site -or any dealerships in my state. I am only able to find standard packages that anyone can buy stock in all states.
Is there a section on this site that tells newbies all the differences in 2nd and 3rd generation, and any regional options available? Or do you members just suggest buying the lowest model and upgrading it yourself later and selling off the parts that came stock? -Thanks.
..my first post before purchase.

Welcome. The TSS is a dealer pkg. Best bet is to stop by the dealership and ask. As for factory pkg it depends what you plan on doing. Off road pkg is best way to go. But that's just my opinion. You get all the extras instead of having to add them. I.e. Diff lock and down hill assist. From there sky is the limit. Good luck and any more questions feel free to ask.

I thought it was odd that dealerships don't list their dealer packages online so I don't have to put my foot on many dealership's pavement. -And I think you're right about getting the extras from the start. I'm only occasionally going to go off road for camping and hunting. This will be mostly be my everyday road truck and I like sitting up higher in traffic and having the 17" blackout wheels. My choice depends if I can find a TRD 4x4 2015 at the right price, ...or order a new 2016 PreRunner with 17" blackout or add wheels when I wear out the stock tires. And I'll also be looking everyday for a good used that will be a good starter.
-Thanks, Demo Man.

Anytime. That's what we are here for. Like he ^ said. Get 4WD. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. There have been time I used my rear dif lock to get out instead of my 4WD. Just a thought. Just remember this. Tacomas hold their value. So you might find what your looking for in a 15' but the price difference between the 15' and a 16' could be 5k.
