I noticed the Nav system has maps that are over 1 year old. Simple question I just bought the Taco 3 days ago, should I have had a more recent map data?

Thank You!

Well the dealer I purchased from is 6 hours away and the local dealer & me had a falling out over the dealer charges buying a new Tacoma. They wanted $1724.00 dealer charges which I asked for them to breakout, which they did reluctantly. Fees included $299 for nitrogen in tires, $428 to title and license fee of $200 to transfer my tag + their single line $800 dealer fee. Save over $1000 in dealers fees by buying elsewhere. I reported the gouging to Toyota and received a treating email from the local dealer sales person. We have a huge AF base near us and I am really upset with the dealer because IMHO they are taking advantage of our local service men & women. Anyway going to another dealer is my choice.

How did you check the map data date?

To find your version, go to nav app and select options. The last entry is the map version number.

Looks like mine is 5/16. My truck was built 11/16. Only 6 months outdated when built and 9 months when purchased. Almost a year now. Im wondering if the dealer will do a 2017 version update for 2017 customers. I'm going in this week for a cruise control issue and some other things. I've got a list I'll add that to it.

Went into the dealer today to have some issues addressed. While I was there I inquired about the nav being almost a year old even though I purchased the truck a few months ago. He said the nav maps are updated every 2 years or so and that the entune units are pre made and programmed in bulk so my unit could have been made a year before my truck was. He said the nav maps are not covered under warranty and if I wanted a new updated version it would be about $200.

I asked the dealer my map is giving me wrong directions and I bought this tuck 5 month ago, they said there is not upgrade jet, they will let me know when it comes out and it will be around $150.

I tried to do this manually myself following the instructions in the link above. I had no success. Has anyone done this themselves?

Looks like a good market for SD chips with the newest maps on them. Back in the old days thefts use to steal GM Nav DVDs and sell on eBay. My mothers Buick got broke into and she thought it was for the change in a cup on her console. A month later she said that she went to use the Nav system and it was giving her a error. I looked and no DVD. :-( Good reason for $0 deductible comp insurance.

BTW- Our SD card is 86271-OE184. Noticed most on eBay are 86271-OE183 ($40) and a few OE184 ($70)
