Has anyone been using the GoPro mount on their new Tacoma? Likes... dislikes...
I was starting to look into the GoPro to mount in the window.
Any thoughts on which one is the best for this application?
I was looking at the hero 3, 4, 5, + and the session.
Any alternatives?

We got my son another brand for Christmas. Just as good but quite a bit cheaper. All the mounts and fittings work with the Go Pro. I'll look back through my receipts and get the name...

Vikee Pro Action cam. Came with a bunch of mounts and fittings that all work with Go Pro.

Just depends on what's important to you as far as recording resolution goes. The session line doesn't have the same resolution capabilities but it's physically smaller then the others.

The go pro black hero 5 is voice activated I just got the Karma package due to it is a very versatile and awesome deal and you get everything and will be trying this out this weekend

When is an apple sports camera coming on the market? All I could find when searching that information was that in 2012 apple put in a request for a patent. In 2013 they acquired a Kodak patent. In 2015 they got a patent approved for video cameras. Over 2 years later it looks like they haven't released anything to the public sector.

They follow the Apple formula as in change very little and give it a new number so the general public will rush to buy it since the new number is greater than the number they have now.

I understand GoPro makes little tweaks and puts out another sports cam every 6-12 months as does apple with their products. Smart business. People are idiots when it comes to wanting the latest and greatest. They take advantage of those peoples $$$$
I was just wondering when apple is going to do something with the patent they worked 3 years to get and they have had available to use for 2 years now.
I know lots of companies will acquire patens and never use them. But...
iPhone, iPad, iPod, imac, maybe add an "iPro" ;)
I might buy one since I don't have a sports camera and have an iPhone.

Just get the hero 4, it's the best GoPro out, I hate the idea of the hero 5 having a built in case, there are so many flaws with that idea.

I bought this, had to buy 64g micro sd also. love it, does loop record, tons of attachments - fraction of GoPro price and works in the mount.

That is probably the worst cameras one could buy. I bought one of those for my cousin for a white elephant game during Christmas, the camera was cheaply made, not durable, and DOES NOT shoot near 4K. It barley holds 720p. The case is not of quality and cheap plastics. And it's made in China .

GoPro may be overpriced but it a damn good camera, has quality and is reliable. My hero 4 was worth the money for me, I do a lot of surfing and water sports so I can tell you first hand it's the best action camera out there.

Wow...Calm down.... If I had your money I'd burn mine. Didn't buy it for it's superior quality. I use it as a cheap dash cam in case I'm in an accident or witness one. I believe the original post was asking about alternatives, not surf board Cams, and definitely not "which one can I use, when I get pissed on during water sports"

I personal find the video quality perfect for a dash cam application , it's very reliable and easy to use, and it's made in China so it's really cheap. If it breaks or gets stolen I won't be upset. Hopefully if some scum bags sees that's it's a cheap dash cam that was made in China that barely or "Barley" shoots 720p and would be really ****ty for doing videos of him surfing or performing other "water sports" he will think twice before smashing out my passenger window.

I'll be more specific than my original post, if you are looking for a cheap alternative to the GoPro that will fit in the mount that comes with your Tacoma - I'd highly recommend the camera below.

Sorry for venting haha, I just had a bad experience with it. I mean if you're happy with them hell thats all that matters.... and trust me
This is me being calm lol, I just don't wanna see someone buy something and later be disappointed. Same thing with our Tacoma's, they're overpriced but worth every penny.

What's your end goal with the camera? Personally I'd get an actual dash cam for dash cam duties. Actually I did get one for that reason.
What dash cam would you recommend?
I'd be using it for dash cam duty for sure...
But I also do some snowboarding, hiking, river rafting, kayaking, biking, hunting and fishing. Wouldn't mind being able to use it for some of that too.

I run a Thinkware F770 with rear view.
