Rubber Bump Stop solved Low Idle

Gas Pedal Adjust.jpg Rubber Stop 004.jpg Rubber Stop 003.jpg I had most of the normal maintenance done to correct my low idle problem. Thinking back though, I remember finding a rubber piece on the floor near the gas pedal. I just looked around but could find nothing wrong. I started hearing a slight click when I let off of the gas pedal. One day I got under the dash with a flashlight and saw a small hole behind the gas pedal return arm. I reasoned that if this rubber bump-stop was missing, the gas pedal might be going too far and lowering the RPMs to the point of stall/dying.
I bought new rubber pieces that thought I could never find. As it turns out they can be purchased for about $5 a bag of 5.
I unscrewed 2 screws at the gas pedal spring, and moved the accelerator apparatus off to one side.
I opted for the larger rubber and after some grease and small cuttings, at opposite sides, the nipple finally went in to the hole and now it works as expected.View attachment 13602 View attachment 13604

Nice write up , a simple solution to a simple problem, (the kind I like)... Thanks for the info .

IAC should control idle. Not pedal position... Your just masked a symptom, not fixed your problem. Mine idle great same if the gas pedal wire is loose.

Just got the Taco back today after second try at a local garage.
Now, it runs perfectly.
They said the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve wasn't being read accurately by the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
It was either closing too soon or too late....
They had to reset the TPS to the ECU (Electronic Control Unit).
Well, I think that's what they said.
I tried to tell them it was possibly a dirty IAC (Intake Air Control) valve but they insisted it wasn't that.
I did not get any warnings on my OBD (On Board Diagnostic) scanner but admit it was a cheap device.
Apparently he caught it on his.
The senior mechanic said he's seen this before. HmmmThrottle Position Sensor.jpg

Must have been the fix if it runs perfectly now.
