New to the site but not to Tacoma's. The last one I owned was a 2006 2WD and for towing boats around Louisiana it was a great truck. Moved back to Colorado in 2014 and a 2WD truck just wasn't going to cut it for getting myself and friends up to the mountains to go snowboarding. Before winter hit, I traded in the truck on a used Outback. Seemed like the Colorado thing to do. The Outback is getting up there in miles so it might be a good time to trade up again.

I was okay with getting a 2015 or older with low miles but when I checked prices compared to a 2018 with zero miles there really isn't that big of a price brake. Last weekend I even made the mistake of driving a new 2018 and I'm hooked. I even liked how the adaptive cruse control worked. Never in my life have I been in the position to actually choose the color and features I want in a vehicle. I have some questions as to after market accessories but I'll start a new thread about that in the appropriate place to make it easier to search later.

Welcome to the forum. Did you buy the outback from Heuberger subaru?

Pulled the trigger. Ordered a Cement, Double Cab short bed TRD Off Road with premium package yesterday. Never ordered a vehicle before. It's weird to commit to buying something I have never actually seen in person. Lead time? 3 to 4 months :( I hope they where being pessimistic about delivery time in an attempt to sell me something on the lot.

I was leaning toward a long bed but I don't really need one. I'm not a contractor or anything and my last short bed taco was all the bed I needed in a truck. It's weird though, when I as considering a long bed those looked proportionally right but after deciding on the short bed the long beds look out of proportion. o_O

Congrats. The cement Off Road is a beauty. 3-4 months seems like a long time!

Maybe they ran out of that color of paint haha.

Expecting the truck any day now. The dealer said it was completed on 2-23-18. If they keep to the two weeks that means tomorrow! Quick question. What is your take on that big bed mat? Is it worth getting? Any issues with that thing? Things sliding around in the bed of the last Taco wasn't a big issue for me but it did mean nothing was put back there without being tied down somehow or at least wedged in with something else. I'm going to go with a cap on this truck though. So things won't necessarily need to be strapped down. A rubber mat would keep everything from sliding up to the cab and out of reach of the gate but would make it harder to slide things in.

Opinions?

Glad you’ll get your Tacoma soon.
Get the bed mat. Absolutely one of the best purchases you can make.
