Bed cargo unloader on the 3rd gen

I used this for years with my Tundra. I haven’t used it on my gen 3 Tacoma until today. I needed to move about 3 yards of 3/4- gravel. Multiple trips.
First attempt to install it would not fit. The tailgate is not long/wide enough to have both clamps that hold the mounting bracket from sliding side to side. I had to remove the inner clamp on both sides. 3085A055-59A9-4270-9410-19707B54DF01.jpeg2DFA6FFC-C339-427C-A51F-62A77D7EE765.jpeg
The 3rd gen tailgate is very thick. The mounting bracket had to be on the largest setting and even then it was a tight fit.
After adjusting and modifying the bed unloader, the tailgate would not close all the way. It would close enough to latch but not shut all the way. 955AE872-ABAB-4487-ABCF-5A2A8CDEB6FD.jpeg
I use a tarp under the bed unloader so any material that falls off the sides while you’re unloading can be easily removed. This will also stop material from going into the tailgate latches and between the tailgate and the bed. D36E66D6-87AF-433A-B29B-951B49E24378.jpeg
Very useful when unloading gravel, rocks, bark dust, dirt and more.

I’ve saw these at Harbor Freight for years and wondered if they were any good.
Good to know.

They work Great! I would highly recommend if you are doing any yard work, moving dirt, sod, bark dust etc.
I moved 14 yards of bark dust with my Tundra in about 3 hrs with this thing. I’ve unloaded a lot of material with this thing. I was a little disappointed when it wasn’t fitting. I didn’t want to cut the fabric narrower but it was almost my only option.

I didnt realize these were so inexpensive!

Or17trd works his taco. He may not know everything but he damn sure knows about hauling in one. He has a lot of pictures with a load in it. What do you do for a job? Do you landscape at night? That was a joke do work night shift then do landscaping during the day?

Haha. No just maintaining properties and doing projects.

I meant all that as the truth I haven’t hauled much in the bed or on a trailer. So I always to advice from someone that does. After 40 years I’ve learned to listen to people that have do stuff. Lol

What a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

You said it was a tight fit. Do they come in a size that's specific for Tacomas?

Not at harbor freight. It’s a one size fits all. Like I said I had to modify it from how I had it set up on my Tundra. It might fit the 2nd gen Tacoma without modification.
It works on the 3rd gen with only removing the inner clamps. If you wanted to you could trim the liner to fit the bed of the Tacoma between the wheel wells and it would be “specific” for the Tacoma. I wanted to keep the extra 6” of width and made it work. It rolls up both wheel wells about 3-4” on each side.

Hey! You got your truck back! Did they do anything different this time? Nice looking yard!
I’m going to get my truck now. That was a few days ago. I’ve been busy and hadn’t been able to post pictures.
No they replaced the gasket with the same gasket they used the last time. SMH.

clean up a backyard... Hours of cleaning and loading. 3 min to unload at the green waste center

Do you have time to cut my grass?
Maybe pull a few million weeds?

Spread mulch around my house?
Stain the deck?

Clean windows?
Vacuum the basement?

Scratch the cat?

Oh wait. That's my honey do list for this week.
Never mind.
