    Hey All

I got 300k out of my 1st 3.4L engine. And I run it like a mother in laws mouth! I'm 99% done having her rebuilt with new torque converter, flex plate and some other lil fun stuff. I soon will have it back up and alive and I can finally park my 4runner for a while. 3.4 was and is the best engine...

    Hey All

I see you are a wise one with 2 1st gen tacos. (The best ones!) Now you just need a single cab and you'll complete the collection![emoji6]

    Lift options

Personally I'm not a fan of blocks or body lifts. I'd do suspension only. If you want to make it flex, suspension will let it do that. Blocks wont. I don't know too much about the rough country stuff so I don't wanna start saying what's what... I did a lift a while back and am very pleased with...

    Tacoma vs old Toyota pickup

1st gen tacos are 95-04 not 01-04. The Tacoma will be more comfortable internally and has a plethora of options for making them bulletproof to an extent. Pickups 89-94 aren't bad, just starting to get dated... if you are getting a v6 I'd suggest the Tacoma with a 3.4 over a p/u 3.0 aka (3.slow)...

1st post! Should I buy this for my first Tacoma? Need opinions

183k on a Tacoma ain't ****! They wont give you any issues for at least another 100k... that being said, listen for a tapping sound coming from the back of the engine (flex plate) the only weak point on the 3.4 v6, other than that, It's a better built Tacoma than the 2nd and 3rd gens in my...

    Dream car

I'd ask for more than 5k if it's a clean 1st gen, regardless if it's not 4x4. 1st gen tacos are/were the best yotas ever made. Look at all the forum posts about all the problems these guys are having with their newer 3rd gens. Now to practicality... an MR2 is a fun lil toy car to play with, that...

    Four wheel drive won't engage

On my 99 TRD as soon as I pull my 4wd shifter back from 2H to 4H my 4wd light symbol comes on. If you have auto lockers like 99's came with, most likely it's the actuator on the tranny case. I've heard thru the grapevine that if 4wd goes too long w/out being actuated the sensor will gum up and...

    Transmission problem

How many miles you got on it? On the 3.4 autos the flex plate is known for cracking/breaking. It would sound like a flywheel/tranny thing. It's no fun either...

    Suspension bushings

I've done all of them, front and rear and body bushings. Suspension was easy, body was a bitch... no special technique really, just a lot of lube and a good razor to cut the lips of the old bushings a d they usually slip right out.

    1st gen 3.4 engine swap...

So I killed my taco last Nov. I got a new/used engine with 136k on it and I gotta get it in. Anybody else ever done this? Are there any secrets/tricks to make this a lil easier? Do I need to remove my hood to get the engine out? Do I need to lower the vehicle? (Lifted 4") if anybody has any...

Has anyone done the header swap on the 3.4

I could be wrong.... but I think you need to pull the engine. I smoked mine in November last year. I'm still in the process of swapping out my engine and from what I've come across, it's a bit of a bitch. Big motor in a lil package (compared to a full size truck) and the headers meet up on the...
