255/85r16 vs. 285/75r16

Alright guys so I have a 2014 tacoma 4x4 2.7 with the 5 speed manual. At the moment I have a 3” lift and 285/75r16 falken wildpeak tires that weigh about 70 pounds each. My question is if I move to 255/85r16s will I be able to get better acceleration out of the truck? Or is it not worth it? I’m looking at the BFG ko2s... I believe they weigh 56 pounds each

Honestly if you have a 2.7 liter with 285/75’s you’re not going to be able to make a whole lot of changes to have a huge increase in acceleration.
The 2.7 is a phenomenal little motor but they aren’t power houses by any means. It’s the nature of the beast. The truck is pulling a lot of load so at that size you won’t see a big increase.

Tall and skinny isn’t going to change much. Your gaining 0.3” of height and loosing 1.2” of width. Loosing some weight might help your mpg some but it’s still a 2.7L. You’re not going to be winning many races.
