Brake Job

Hello all! I will be replacing my front brake pads and rotors in the upcoming week. Dealership quoted me $480 for front brakes only...no thanks, I'll do it myself. Though it has been a long time since I've done a brake job, I'm pretty confident in my abilities. Watched a few videos online and it's all coming back to me. Does anybody have any tips or know of any "quirks" the second gen tacomas may have, in regards to the brake assembly?

Ill be going with Wearever Platinum Premium pads and Wearever rotors from Advance Auto. I've used this brand before on previous vehicles with no problems, seems to be the best bang for my buck. If anybody had used these pads or similar pads, do I need to keep the stock shims, or are the replacement pads "pre shimmed"?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

Front brakes on 2nd gens are very easy to change, because you can just slide the pads out with out having to pull the caliper. I'm not sure about 1st gens but my 79 is the same way
