I use Viper alarm system on my 06 tacoma for keyless entry. Works great, little sensitive sometimes but I haven't had any problems, got it at Best Buy

You should be able to activate the sound. If I remember right... push and hold the lock and unlock until it beeps and then press lock it will either vibrate, silent or chirp if the LED on the dash is solid then open the driver door put the key in ignition to acc mode and press lock unlock lock the led should turn off and the siren will work again you might of had it in valet mode.My truck had a viper remote start on it when I bought it. All it has is lock/unlock and remote start, no alarm. Takes care of the sensitivity issue. The only thing I don't like about it is that it makes no sound at all when locking or unlocking. The lights flash, and you hear the power lock actuators, but I would like a chirp or horn honk to let me know it is locked. I love the remote start feature though. I think the system is only around $90 or so before installation.
