yea he was an electrician...don't believe it was a crew truck. the 3.4, suspension, and most other parts has held up so far. fingers crossed. I might have to live with it for awhile if I can't find an affordable way to fix it.
I replaced the clutch a few years ago (the popping started recently). haven't put that many miles on it since. First owner had a full work shell on it and must have driven hard.
having it r&R at a shop and bringing it to another shop for a bench rebuild. I got a quote for labor and suspected parts from the second shop but am a bit worried it'll end up being more involved.
Thanks for the reply. one thing I wonder if the trans pretty much needs to be broken down to determine extent of the damage. So it would be left disassembled while having paid for the work already done if too much damage. I know that gen1 gets a lot of don't throw good money after bad.
Thx for the reply. The transmission guy (who only does bench rebuilds) told me this unit (R150) often has a worn linkage plate which is in addition to the rebuild kit. Then also possibly a new shift fork. Does this sound about right?
I got a 99 popping out of first occasionally (after improvements of seat bushing and fluid change-used to pop out of 2cd and reverse occasionally). Really don;t want to replace transmission but got a behind the wheel drive test coming up in april.
New here. California. My transmission is popping out of first (changed shifter bushing/seat and fluid). It's better but not perfect. Is it worth a rebuild?
