Hi! I'm new to the forum and just joined the taco club.. quite the expensive membership fee [emoji6]..

Wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for all the info on this forum which helped tremendously in my search for a truck.. beyond stoked on my 2018 tacoma!

Now the search begins for the perfect camper shell, racks, seat covers etc. Also looking for good car wash soap and supplies to protect this baby from my salty and sandy lifestyle. I'll keep browsing the forum for info but any tips and what and what not to gets are much appreciated!

Thanks all and happy almost new year!! IMG_20171228_143900.jpg

Congrats on the new taco. Love the color. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. There’s plenty of great info, just search around a little. Congratulations on the new truck.

Welcome.... good looking taco [emoji106]

I got a leer cap on my 2017 DCLB, love it, RCI for bed racks or sliders for sure! Us long bedders get hate when we put a cap on, but it’s the best way to keep things dry in the back! Plus you can sleep back there

Lol. I’ll take the long bed hate for the practicality of the topper.
I’ve never had one but have seriously been throwing the idea around of getting one. They are useful.

Thanks everyone! :)

Those frontrunner racks are pretty sick. I was just going to put some racks on the shell but now have some thinking to do.

I had to get the long bed for sleeping in the back. Before the taco I had a highlander and a full air mattress fit nice and snug in the back but it was a bit cramped with all the fishing and kayaking gear in the front. I decided a truck and shell was the way to go even though the truck is so much more sexy without a shell. Oh well, it beats camping in the rain in a tent haha.

The cargoglide is super sick! That would be ideal but will probably build my own to save money. My dad made some drawers and has pockets on either side of the wheel wells. His truck is a bit bigger but I'm hoping to make something similar. I'll post pics once I get the shell.

Awesome.

I have a ARE HD shell , will take about 700 lb on the top but the frame takes some room inside it.
You also have to remember these trucks are light on the payload. The double cab off road long bed is 1120lbs.
1120lbs - (Cap weight + rack weight) = allowed gear weight
Sure the cap can hold 700lbs but if the bed was loaded down and the rack was loaded down you are now over the payload for the truck. Knowing your equipment and it’s limits will help keep your adventures going and safe.

I know the feeling....Purchased mine 4 days ago. A 2017 4dr, long bed, Inferno with low miles. A huge upgrade from my 2008 SE Frontier with a Leer cap. The Nissan was reliable and served me well. Nice looking truck. I see you are enjoying it.
