Priming your oil filter when doing an oil change.

I always pre-fill the new fuel filter on my diesel tractor, to prevent an injector airlock. But never tried to do that to a new oil filter on my 2nd gen 4.0 V6. As Jay said, the oil filter is upside down so it is rather impossible to attach it full of oil to the engine. I do remember my old '01...

    Let the Downgrades Begin

I never said I didn't like the Tacoma that I bought, only that I am disappointed that a quality car maker like Toyota has instituted a plethora of downgrades following record sales in 2023.

    Let the Downgrades Begin

I remember when Datsun was the first in the US to offer a mid/small-sized extended cab pick-up. Their King-Cab was a huge success. And Suburu came out with the Brat with the plastic jump seats in the bed. But the manufacturer's reasoning isn't always that clear; "North American and Canadian BRAT...

    Let the Downgrades Begin

Yep, I heard that too. So if the Access Cab was so unpopular, why even offer the "new and improved" Xtra Cab w/ the fold-down passenger seat? I just can't stop thinking the switch (backward) is really just about the profit margin.

    Ready for a Flying Car?

When flying cars become common, just imagine how 'the sky is falling' will become a reality. Chicken Little might be right after all! And I suppose that 'mid-air car collisions' will be a category in itself.

    Ready for a Flying Car?

They went right for the Model A, and skipped the venerable Model T. Would Henry approve? My great grandfather, a family doctor in Farmington, MO had a decked-out fancy Model A of which he was said to be very proud. But it didn't fly way back in the 1930's.

    Ready for a Flying Car?

SpaceX-Backed Flying Car Startup Gets FAA Nod By Felicity Bradstock - Mar 07, 2024, 2:00 PM CST Alef Aeronautics, based in San Mateo, California, has seen an impressive number of pre-orders for its two-seater eVTOL vehicle, Model A, with plans to develop a four-seater sedan, Model Z, by 2035...

    Let the Downgrades Begin

Somewhere I read that the reason the Access Cab trim was deleted on the 4th gen Tacoma was because the side crash test results were too low w/o the center door pillar. Shown below, apparently, Nissan doesn't think it's a problem.

    They broke their new Tacoma

And I'm hoping that this exposure forces them to make any necessary corrections promptly. Especially since I got one of them 4th gen 4WD's.

    Let the Downgrades Begin

Aha yes, a team of engineers. Well I are one for the past 48 yr. And I've had the privilege of cleaning up the mess directly caused by 'registered professional engineers' several times in my career. There are duds in every profession. (And I'd bet Toyo has at least a few.) While the image &...

    They broke their new Tacoma

So the ADD (in the front diff) is a 'designed to fail' (fail-safe) device that allows the shift-on-the-fly ability. So my question is, Then exactly under what conditions should this part fail and therefore prevent a more catastrophic failure? Since the televised crawling conditions didn't...

Yeah right, and that required full synthetic oil makes a huge difference too.

    Let the Downgrades Begin

Jay asked, "where is the engine oil checkStick on that beast?" There's that oil dipstick. (But don't ask about a way to easily check the tranny fluid level.) (I Know, "Don't call me a dipstick, or Shirley either").

    Let the Downgrades Begin

As shown above, the new '24 SR5 Tacoma is no longer supplied with a Group 27 battery. The smaller Group 24 battery shown is just one more of the lengthy list of downgrades you can expect with the gen 4 design. But if you look closely, you can see that it has the larger tray to accommodate a 27...

    Gen 4 Toyota Accessories

At my cabin-in-the-woods, I waited 14 months to get Starlink, finally when they had enough satellites and the monthly price was up to $120. I found that T Mobile had 5G internet service out there. At $50 per month and no expensive equipment, it's a much better deal. I get speeds of about 200...
