Toyota says i have to get my ecu reflash. Is that for real? I replaced my speed sensor a and when i clear it the code comes back on.

I replaced the sensor both of them on the transmission and still stays on the light clear it couple times and comes right back on the code that gives me p500

I have play in the steering shaft could that be it?
