Drum brakes on the rear are fantastic. Sure, if you only drive on road, you might want discs (for ease of pad replacement), but the rear does so little in braking, you really gain nothing by going to discs. What you do gain (by having rear drums) is less crap getting stuck in them off road.

Definitely. No more knock or hesitating under part throttle acceleration. Really, it's night and day. We'll see the effect on mileage in a week or so.

Well, I just replaced some Iridium plugs with stock Denso this past weekend. I found my old maintenance sheet, and it appears that I hadn't replaced them in 75k [emoji51] . While they might look better than copper plugs would at 75k, the truck did run a little rough, so if they do last longer...

Considering that all of my maintenance needs to be wrapped up over the course of a weekend, I have to plan ahead and order things a bit in advance. Which leads to... Over the next month or two, I'll be doing front/rear brakes, front shock adjustment (5100s), possible lift kit, possible rear...

Thanks for the insight! I felt the need to gather other opinions, versus simply ordering and installing, only to find some issue I hadn't thought of.

The rear is supposed to be lifted a hair over two inches, replacing the stock leafs with a set of Dakars (the shocks are replaced with OME bits as well).

Referencing a conversation with @Bojangles yesterday (and not wanting to completely highjack the other thread), I started researching purchase of steel brake lines (among other things). I'm just wondering... is there harm in getting brake lines a bit longer than "normal"? I see that the G Stops...

Good info I hadn't though of since my old classic car days. I haven't done any bake work beyond replacing front pads and flushing complete system once ([emoji21]). Will be researching and buying parts tomorrow though; the brakes have always been one of my "I wish this were different" items on...

Man... I am SO doing this. I really just "got used" to the "performance" of the brakes, and figured "Well, it's my first truck, so...". Will report after some research and purchases/installation! LOL
