If you have that noise in 2, or 4wd it's likely not that bearing causing it. Something else is going on. You gotta get the truck up on a lift, and run it to find out where your noise is coming from. I've seen leaks in the exhaust system people mistake for a mechanical noise.

Some movement on that axle is normal unless its excessive. At that point the bearing in the differential housing the axle rides on is tapioca, usually a lift will cause the problem sooner with the need to use a solid type bearing sleeve instead. I think east coast gear supply sells them. At any...

Ya but the smaller 265-70-17 on my Tacoma were smaller and they rubbed so I had to lift it . The 18s were tested on it before the lift and had no issues. Smelling what I'm stepping in ?

Not really, stock the gen1 tundra was even larger, and taller than theses gen3 tacoma's. Wasn't hard to put a larger tire with no issues, plus you had big torque from that 4.7 v8, especially in later year gen1 trucks like yours.

Generally, lift kits will create more real problems with suspension and drivetrains than the perceived solutions. Drive it, Use it...... then you'll know if anything is really needed.
