Because on a long trip using my map app the phone tends to go dead after a while. And I can’t use my map app while my phone is off.

I know I’m late to the game here but I have a 2019 Tacoma and no matter what I do. My phone will not charge in my truck unless the phone is turned off. It’s an iPhone 8 and I’ve tried all different ways and nothing works unless the phone is turned off.
