Idk, I always thought about a tonneau cover over the years for my pickup trucks, but never pulled the trigger.
In 2020 when I placed the order for my tacoma, I requested a tonneau cover come with it among a couple other tech packages. Well, so far the factory tri-fold vinyl cover still looks new, and keeps all my stuff in the bed dry when we get foul weather....the dealer even started me with a tonneau cover clean, and protectant kit. My only regret is not getting one of these covers years ago.
As far as hard covers, you can get them to match the color of your truck, plus they're probably less maintenance, but pricier.
