I will never trust cops again

Funny some of you guys say that about minor traffic violations. Us donut eaters don't know weather or not were going home that night, while u sleep worrying about a ticket that you didn't even get. (3 LAPD officers shot day before yesturday)

Yes some cops r dicks. But maybe its because we deal with dickheads all day and were tired of hearing about who pays our salary. All of you talking that bull couldn't walk a day in our shoes. Nor do you have the nuts.

Well put Brutha. Love how it got quiet after you posted.

These tuff guys wouldn't even drive through Compton. And I imagine that's your part of your zone. They want to drive how they want to drive and when their Lilly white asses get busted they scream bloody murder. Ignorance of a law is no excuse. If you drive you should keep your self familiarized with all traffic laws if some of you guys that are tired of the police using speeding traps and red light cameras as ways to build revenue should go live in a neighborhood where the police won't go. How the hell do you think they get money to get them past the shoe string budgets they get from their states.

Cops are not on shoestring budgets! Unless you want us to be a police state

I'm not sure where u live, but the reason why calls for service can be slow is due to a shortage of personnel. And if you the citizen want faster service, then pay for it. I do.

And really. Do u think the officer or deputy is the one that put that speed trap in place? If so you really have no clue. How it works is, the citizens call and say there is a problem here and there. People r speeding here. People r dealing drugs here. So u, your Dad, ur uncle and aunt call and complain about what the department is going to do about this and we go do it.

We have no quota. But if my job is to write tickets then that's what I'm going to do. My job is gangs and guns that's what I do.

I don't know what you do for a living, but if the job is to shovel **** won't u do it?

Well said, departments all over the country are forced to layoff in numbers every day. As I posted earlier in this thread, departments are forced to do operations that they wouldn't have done 10-15-20 yrs ago because of so many people being out of work and not able to pay city, income or local taxes.

Still the bottom line is ignorance of a law is no excuse. Even if it were, common sense should prevail. Move over or at least slow down when anyone is on the shoulder.

Pay the ticket, move on!

Very true

Common sense is it was entrapment and the cop was a jerk she had no reason to pull over us over cause it was a setup

All I can say is a ticket is not an admission of guilt. Its a promise to appear. Hope ur dad wins. Maybe she won't show up.

Could you describe how it was entrapment. Was the cruiser just sitting on the shoulder with the lights flashing and had no one pulled over? Or just siting on the shoulder without blue and reds going? In Ohio the signs on the road ( yes, there are signs all over the place ) warning about this law, state that you must move over or slow down if there is a cruiser on the shoulder with lights going.

If I missed the explanation of how it was entrapment in this thread please excuse me but I am not understanding how it was entrapment.

Here in Kansas there is no signs that mention this law went into effect I just happened to see it posted at a rest area State map off of I-70 on my trip back from Colorado last year. Said law went into effect last year. I've asked many of my friends if they knew about it and they had not heard of it. Even a few of my police friends haven't but then again they are city cops not state patrol. The State patrols the highways here, never have I seen a city cop on the highway pulling people over.

Saying ignorance of a law is no excuse is kinda like saying your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. Any new law that is passed that has implications in motoring should be advertised, take Oregon for instance did you know it's illegal to drive without your headlights on during the day in certain areas also you can't pump your own gas? It's the law there. But it's not advertised. Same thing in New Jersey. Here in Kansas the big one is click it or ticket which is posted on all highways.

Personally I think it's a great law...I bet your dad will never do it again.. And If that's the case the ticket served its purpose. Whatever police officers have to do to make our jobs that much safer, so we can go home and see our kids every night then so be it! I say WE because I also have been a police officer in Los Angeles for the past 10 years. I have also been rear ended while conducting a stop sending me and the person I pulled over to the hospital, luckily we were both on the sidewalk otherwise we would be dead.. Just another point of view.

Yeah fine seems high... But not as high as the law suit if you hit and kill an officer and a citizen. Got to be honest with yourself. If he broke the law, unknowingly or not..still broke the law, got caught and got a ticket seems pretty black and white to me.

They enacted this law here in RI a couple years ago.... But they advertised heavily to let people know. I believe there's also signage at the state lines on 95. I always thought it was common sense anyway, i always do where possible, dont like goving the po po any reasons to bust my chops anymore.

A while back when I was a bit younger, to make a long story short my wife (now she is my ex wife) and I were parked back on this trail back in the woods. We were just talking. It was her car and I was in the drivers seat, but she drove there ;-) Anyways a cop pulled back there and walked up to my window and asked for our drivers license and we gave them to him. Well he came back and said everything was fine and we had to leave cuz we weren't allowed back there. So I started up the car, started driving down the road and not even 1 minute later he pulled us over again and came up to my window and said that it just came thru the radio that my license was suspended and he locked me up! He was a huge jerk, cuz he knew right when he gave us our license back the first time that mine was suspended. He just needed to see me driving so he could pull me over again and lock me up! What a jerk! If I would've been the cop, I would've told the guy that his license was suspended and to not drive. But hey, thats just who I am, lol..

I edited this post cuz I really don't agree with the OP, nor do I disagree..

I agree with OP 100%!!! Yes, cops are *******s and jerks just cuz his dad fell for their trap! Well that, and the fact that they must take "******* and Jerk" courses just so they can be cops, seriously, its mandatory now that they must take these 2 courses in order for them to achieve enough points to graduate! ! Maybe you shouldn't have been in the drivers seat and obviously you knew your license was suspended so its pretty obvious that you should have let her drive out of there. The blame is on you not the cop. How about sometimes citizens can be *******s and jerks and dickheads to cops. They have a hard enough job as it is let alone having to deal with people like you and everyone else that thinks they are dicks. its always the ones breaking the law that say cops are dicks and jerks. Maybe we all should be more aware of the laws. They are there for a reason.

I don't know why its a cops fault that u don't know the law. Its not like a cop wrote the law we just enforce them. Sounds like something u should take up with ur state politicians.

I got a photo ticket in the carpool lane last month for not having fast track. I had to pay. Was it unfortunate yes? did I pay it? Yes. Hell I think its crappy but my real problem is MGM said he wouldn't help a cop who was being assaulted. But he would want me to help him. And I would.

Is he serious or just ranting I don't know, but don't write something like that. Especially if you don't mean that. Keep it real and rant about getting a ticket. Not about who gave it to you.its not the officers fault u ****ed up.

Amen! Dam I thought we all left Tacomaworld behind?? Guess it follows us everywhere.:D

Okay, now you need not jump to conclusions, for your own sake of looking like an ass too. There were many times my license was suspended and I knew it, but this was one time I did NOT know it was suspended! If I had known do you think I would've driven the car? NO! So ask before you assume.

On another note, I've seen MANY police officers do things that are not right, and they think they can do them knowing it's against the law, and still do it just cuz they are a police officer? I look down on these type of people/police officers. But, on the other hand, there are many more police officers that knife by the laws, and are very good people. And if I seen ANYONE being attacked, including a police officer, I would help them if I could. I just think SOME cops are *******s, just like citizens...
