Nerf bars

Depends on what you're looking for. Do you you need them as steps, do you want to protect you're truck from door dings, do you do any off roaming,my hat sort of thing. Many members would say the best thing to get would be sliders, either bolt-on or weld-on.

The old adage, "you get what you pay for" applies here. I've had N-Fabs on my truck for 2 1/2 years and they still look like new. They have several different styles to choose from. Personally, I don't like the looks of round or oval nerf bars, they look like pontoons, but I wanted something to fill in the area below the rocker panels on my PreRunner, and I needed something to help my vertically challenged wife get into the truck. N-Fab makes a model called Rock Rails that bolt up just like other nerf/step bars. They tuck up under the rocker panel and don't stick out too far to bang your shins on. They have an optional step (just in case you wanted your short wife to get into the truck, or to bump your shins on) that bolts on and makes a neat and clean installation.

I've thought a time or two about buying a set of bolt on sliders, but as I mentioned , my trucks a PreRunner and I'm not an off-roarer, so it seems like overkill. Plus, from what I've read, most, if not all of them, come unfinished, so I'd have to mess with painting or powder coating them. Just more expense and maintenance.

Beware of Chinese knock-offs...they seem to be built out of cheaper metal and have a poorer finish and are prone to rust.

Thanks for the info was buying cause I have a short wife and she has trouble getting in. I've looked at the N-Fab but having trouble deciding whether to go with the oval or the loops

ImageUploadedByTaco Forum1464682218.223702.jpgI have body armor side steps. Bolt on and already powder coated. Nothing to fancy but serves the purpose. I'm short so I use them getting in all the time as does my wife and youngest daughter. They are very durable. Some how they made it through the Toyota Roundup last year at Windrock. Took a pounding while saving my truck from damage. Just another thought.
