Out of the blue it would not start at all in park
I was confused tried auto start Then thought how about in N
it started normal in neutral . even later on same issue but was in a drive way with hill
put in neutral then park cause I had to get something the car move a bit wile putting in park and I heard the typical click sound if you put in park wile moving any way that fixed it & now it starts as usual in park.
Is this a sign of a need to replace any thing or leave well enough alone .

Sounds like it just didn't go all the way into park. Do you set your Ebrake and release the brake peddle then put it in park? This will help release the pressure on the transmission.

I figure a sensor also since I have a back door to start it in N & it still works as should 60% in park I'll take the research rout to find sensor .
Impromptu advice so far is - "it;s at the shifter area"
another person called it " neutral sensor switch "
I called a local Toyota service department
His advice was " Let's make an appointment to bring truck in so we can figure it out "
Well thats my last resort at $100 per hour . Trust me he knew but ain't saying
My trusted mechanic friend says it's on the transmission exterior as whippersnapper0 said
For now it's working well enough
and following OR17TRD advice by parking truck so no pressure on trans utilizing Ebrake
