Spare tire size

Hi guys I just purchased a 2015 Tacoma trd offroad . I bought it new and it was lifted from the dealer and it has 285/70/17 tires on it . I wasn't even thinking about the spare . It currently has the stock size spare which is 265/70/16 . I want to switch the spare to a 16 that's is close in size with 285 but I want to use the stock spare rim. What size 16 inch tire is the same size as 285/70/17 ? Will the stock size tire get me home in a jam ? My tires now are nitto terra grappler g2. Thanks.
 
Ya the stock size will get you home, just don't run on it to long or you'll wear out your rear diff... Also you can't put a tire to much bigger in the spare tire holder cause of the limited space...
 
Un limit the space ! I got a 285 /70-17 spare ! Depending on the year you have most have two stopping plates for the tire front cut them off if you need ! Much cheaper than doing rear diff after a drive home with different tire diameters !!
