Tire size question

I had 285\60\18 Kuhmo exstas on my 03 tundra and tried them on my taco ,before I sold it .no rub and they fit nice .they were 8.5 wide 0 offset and 4.5 backspace .when my hankooks wear our I'm putting 285\60 \17 on it .but the way the dynapro s are wearing it may be awhile lol

Wow! My factory tire size is 265 60 r18,and your saying I can safely fit 285 60 18 on with no rubbing or trimming?
 
Depends on the backspace of factory rims . you have to see how much space is behind tire next to upper control arm first.IT could rub but u could put 1.5 or 1.25 spacer .if its a street truck.I had spacers on the rear of my 04 mustang and never in 4 years had an issue. It did great burnouts too :) alot of people hate wheel spacers also..

I'm looking at 275/60 16s when I get my next set.
 
I am having trouble deciding on my new tires for my 2020 TRD Sport 4WD. It came with 265/65/17's but I want to go to a slightly beefier tire, preferably the Yokohama Geolander AT. The guys at Discount Tire tell me it is a 10ply belted tire and is too much for my Tacoma but it gets good reviews.
He is trying to sell me some Hankook, Pathfinder AT's which get marginal reviews. What about the Firestone Destination AT or other choices?
Any thoughts?

Don't let 'em talk you into anything you don't want. Research what you want.....make your decision......order what fits your wants/needs. Your Taco.....your way.
 
Thanks, I was feeling pressure, I really want a good brand name tire that will look better and last longer. I don't do a lot of off road but I want something a little beefier for my backroads at Land Between the Lakes with my bikes and kayaks!

The Geolandar AT in size 265/65R17 comes in two SKUs. 110101525 is the standard load version, weighing 38 lb each. 110101678 is the E load version with 10 plies, weighing 47 lb each. You can ask the shop to order the standard load version. The stiffer sidewall on the E-load will give a much harsher ride.

You can also step up to a 32" tire in 265/70R17 with no issues, SKU 110101526. There's a 285/70R17 SKU 110101527, but you'll need wheel spacers and trim some fenderwell plastic to fit.
