    Mexican Toyota Factory Problems

Interesting discussion about problems Toyota is having at their Mexico factory. I find it hard to feel sorry for any huge company that elects to export jobs away from 'Merica' while hiking prices substantially.

    4th Gen Tacoma mods

For me, I would use my '07 FJ Cruiser for any serious off-roading. And my purpose for the '24 Tacoma is pleasure and backup work truck in case the old 2nd gen Access Cab TRD OR is out of commission for any reason. (The field operations in my business are 24/7 and I have to be ready to respond in...

    4th Gen Tacoma mods

And then I added a sliding bed divider, to keep things from moving about. It uses the deck rail system. 'Choose the $140 generic divider, I just didn't think $330-$400 for OEM could be justified.

    4th Gen Tacoma mods

Next, I added a Rough Country slide out tray and 44" X 15" X 15" toolbox. (Toyota 4th gen bed mat also.)

    4th Gen Tacoma mods

Then I added the OEM Toyota Bed Step. The 4th gen is a full 2" taller than my 2nd gen, making it almost impossible to step up on the tailgate/bed when the gate is down. No aftermarket is available for this one (yet), part number PT392-35920. Lists for almost $400, but can be found for just under...

    4th Gen Tacoma mods

Next, I added a Lomax folding hard Tonneau cover, in matte finish. (Also, notice the right rear corner, the bed step, in stowed position.)

    4th Gen Tacoma mods

I've made a few add-on mods to the new blue-crush Tacoma SR5 4X4. First, the front air dam is history. And it's necessary to replace the screws and add some black fender washers to relieve any stress points.

My Great Uncle Was a Hupmobile Dealer

The Park-O-Tell in it's prime. The Park-o-tell #1 oil well is the steel derrick in the upper left. And the state capitol in the background. No swimming pools at hotels back in the 1930's, but they did have air conditioning, not so common back then. They had lots of traffic from Route 66 and the...

    No State Left Behind...

It was an 'in-your-face' to the DA, and the Harlem crowd loved it.

    The Future is Now

So right Tacojoel, and just in the last couple of months I received threats from "dark-web" criminals that hacked my doctor's database and got my ss#, DOB, & who knows what else. They wanted to be paid off to remove my data from their sales offerings. None of the online database systems are...

    The New Direction of Toyota?

Since '91 I've chosen 5 Toyotas for their logical design, quality construction, and overall reliability. But now it appears that they are trending in a different direction. I think the video does a good job of pointing this out. And there's little doubt that government interference has forced us...

Priming your oil filter when doing an oil change.

It's a bit hard for me to imagine, but quite a few people out there shouldn't be changing their vehicle's oil and filter. When my brother first tried to service his '60 Biscayne, he drained the manual transmission 'grease' by mistake (ignorance). Some folks simply have zero mechanical ability.

    universal joint inspection...

When I recently replaced the center support "carrier" bearing on my 170K mile 2 gen '12, I didn't think twice about also replacing all 3 u-joints. I used the best quality Spicer u-joints I could find ($58/3). 12 years of wear & tear on u-joints calls for a full replacement when the drive shaft...

Priming your oil filter when doing an oil change.

It was a 6 cyl, but it's quite possible my oil filter memory back to the early 2000's is a bit upside down.
