Maintenance of 4 wheel drive transfer case

Thanks, I suspect I will take the advice and have this done before the winter here. We don't get much snow but when we do I take off and look for some fun hills. The dealer was going to charge me $445 just to change the diff and transfer case oil, seemed excessive to me. My neighborhood shop...

Maintenance of 4 wheel drive transfer case

I took my 2020 Tacoma in for the 60K mile service and all I needed was the oil change and tire rotation. They tried to upsell me on spark plug changes and changing the grease in my differential and transfer case. I use my 4 wheel drive occasionally and the cost seemed excessive. What are your...

Why do you drive a manuel transmission ?

I have two offices in Texas and am in fear anytime there are big storms. During Hurricane Harvey some years ago we were without power and water for many days. We had Tacoma's, Tundras, Jeeps and Subaru's that brought my staff to work through the high waters. My staff rocked through it and we...

Why do you drive a manuel transmission ?

I had to wait forever once to pick up my truck from the Parking Spot at the airport because all of the staff were so young they couldn't find an old fart that could drive my six speed manual!

Hello Texas Big Blue, you are certainly correct because Tacoma became a new name for me out of the blue. I had the SR5's with the famous 22R engine, I even had a long bed extra cab at one point called something else I can't remember. My first one which I wrecked with only 20K miles on it didn't...

Why do you drive a manuel transmission ?

What an interesting perspective. I have had mostly manual autos in my life because I enjoy the art of driving. I grew up on manuals and although I do enjoy the ease of an automatic as in my 2020 Taco, I did enjoy the shifting when I wanted, the selection when downshifting, the control, etc. I...

Welcome as well....My 2020 TRD Sport is my 6th Tacoma dating back to 1987. These are great trucks and the forums are very helpful with running down ghosts, issues, questions, etc. Enjoy the hell out of this truck, she will last you a long while.

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

It has finally warmed up so I washed all the salt off as best I could. I cannot go through a carwash due to my kayak racks but I sprayed underneath really good! I owned a Maxima from Chicago once and it was badly damaged by salt!

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

Salt sucks, when it snows in Nashville the common approach is to dump a few hundred thousand pounds of salt on the road which ends up on my truck! As soon as the temp gets above freezing I am spraying my Taco down big time!

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

We don't get a lot of snow here in Nashville but when we do I have a hell of a good time! There are a few places, my road included, where I need to creep down my hill in low 4 just to keep from sliding off the hill. Then coming home I can use my high 4 and cruise up the hill like I own it. I...

    2020 1st oil change

I changed my own oil on my last 5 Tacomas, easy and cheap. I averaged 5K miles using conventional oil on my first 3 and synthetic on all since. Even using conventional oil, always changing filters, my oil never looked that bad when I drained it. Yes, it was black but never thick or full of...

    Miller cat shield

Spoke with a guy at an insurance agency today about these thefts. He said it is deer strikes all winter and cat thefts all the time that keep him busy with claims. I had two deer strikes in one week.

What have you done to your Tacoma today?

I have loaded the Taco with all the biking, kayaking and hotel gear my wife could find. I hope I survive a week on the Gulf of Mexico. I am so glad I have a truck with a camper top, I can carry everything she, not me, needs!

    Tire size question

Thanks folks! I finally have some miles on my Geolander AT's and I love them. They are a little more aggressive but with little or no more road noise. I do believe I am getting about 1 MPG less however, small sacrifice for some great tires.

    Tire size question

Thanks, I was feeling pressure, I really want a good brand name tire that will look better and last longer. I don't do a lot of off road but I want something a little beefier for my backroads at Land Between the Lakes with my bikes and kayaks! Thanks for the feedback!

    Tire size question

I am having trouble deciding on my new tires for my 2020 TRD Sport 4WD. It came with 265/65/17's but I want to go to a slightly beefier tire, preferably the Yokohama Geolander AT. The guys at Discount Tire tell me it is a 10ply belted tire and is too much for my Tacoma but it gets good reviews...

Thanks, we rarely get a good snow in middle TN but we are getting another one today. I hope to take this out again later if it gets deeper.
