A 5 spd transmission with the 3.5 I feel would have been fine.I didn’t realize they were using the same drive train that long.
I don’t mind my 3.5 but honestly wish I had a 2nd gen drivetrain.

Until kaboomAlright, so the wife wanted an Edge so I bought my first Ford in over 15 years for her. [emoji20]
I must say that the 2.0 liter ecoboost (ecopoop) is an impressive thing. 245hp and 275 ft. lbs. torque. That’s no joke for a turbo charged direct injection 4 banger.
The 2.3 liter ecoboost in the Ranger is projected to have 280hp and 310 ft. lb. torque. Toyota might have a real contender on their hands.
Until kaboom
Toyota is gonna have to step it up a notch. They've had it way to easy.. This new ranger is gonna be nice. As long as it doesn't go ka boom lol
LMAO..........hahahahaha!When the engineers at Toyota saw that the new Ranger was coming out with all these decked out features their answer was to...... add a snorkel.
That’s because they know what the people want and they give it to them. When the engineers at Toyota saw that the new Ranger was coming out with all these decked out features their answer was to...... add a snorkel.
All of them?Nice car, I am looking forward to get one. There is already a good review of this 2019 model form coolcarsforever, where they have mentioned all flaws of this car.

I had a 98 ranger 4.0 v6 2wd 5spd manual several years ago. It was a damn good truck and was abused horribly.. I think it would have given my 4.0 Taco a run for its money!I got a black 2000 Ranger XLT extended cab with a 3.0 V6 and automatic tranny, when it was about a year or two old. I felt it was underpowered. I can't recall having any serious failures otherwise. That was awhile back.
My best memories of that truck were of the 10 cubic foot, 4 chamber box I built for the back. I had the front seats forward alot to fit it. 0 guage power cables, two "bat caps", two JBL 1200 watt amps, and four RF Power HX2 12" subs. It moved some air. I believe my rearview mirror fell off multiple times, the bottom of the back window would vibrate outward enough to fit your fingers down the bottom center to outside.
Back in the days, when you could easily replace your radio...
I was excited to see what they were doing with the new ranger but I honestly think they flunked... hahaI had a 1998 Ranger for 20 years. Damn good truck. Was waiting patiently for the new Ranger. Figured if I liked the Ranger I would go with that, if I did not like the Ranger I would be more than happy to get a Tacoma. New Ranger did not impress me at all. Best choice I made in a long time, 2019 Tacoma.
