Best Weld-On Hose Fittings for Custom Tacoma Mods?

Hey everyone,

I’m working on a few custom mods for my Tacoma, including a custom transmission cooler and some hydraulic lines for off road accessories. I’m looking at weld on hose fittings and wondering what you guys recommend in terms of material, stainless vs. mild steel, for durability and corrosion resistance.

I’ve also come across aluminium weld on fittings but I’m unsure how well they hold up in rugged conditions or when paired with steel components. Has anyone here welded fittings directly to frame mounted brackets or custom tanks?

Curious about real world tips from anyone who’s tackled similar projects.

Have no clue what you mean by weld on fittings unless your building some type custom size metal lines. Everything I've seen has been a crimp-on type fitting, or clamp deal. Generally stainless steel has been the way to go if clamps.

Personally, I prefer stainless steel for corrosion resistance, especially if you ride in mud or snow. I have already welded fittings on frame supports without worry, it holds up well. Aluminum can go, but you have to be careful with electrolysis with steel parts.
