Power steering fluid

2012 Tacoma 2.7L 4x4 I’m looking to do new power steering fluid the book calls for dextron ii or iii but they don’t exist anymore as dextron iv is the new. Lucas oil customer service says you can use their power steering fluid with conditioners and it’ll work. Anyone know which fluid to use? Thanks.

A synthetic automatic transmission fluid rated Dexron III or better, (i.e. Dexron VI), will provide the best performance and protection, particularly in the cold. Dexron VI is the newest, latest, "bestest", transmission fluid and supercedes the old Dexron II and Dexron III ratings.

TacoKen has it right, if the book calls for II then III or IV meets all your requirements.
Fluids don’t go bad over time but do absorb moisture. Then stuff rusts. Probably not a concern in AZ or CA but a good brake & PS flush is cheap insurance, and pretty easy for the average garage monkey.
