Vibrations in steering wheel

Just put some bfg ko2 A/Ts 285/75r16's on my 02 TRD 3.4L and have had them balanced 4 times in the last 6 months since I purchased the tires. I've run the same size ko1 A/Ts the 2 sets previous to the ko2s without a single issue. Did i miss something? Because I've replaced the inner tie rods and ball joints on both sides as well as an alignment and still have vibration in the steering wheel. Its driving me crazy that I cant figure it out. Please help!!

I’ve heard of some KO2’s having a manufacture defect and causing these Sx.
Can you put another set of tires on and see if it does it?

Have the rims and whee run on a balancer WHILE YOU ARE WATCHING! Bent rims can’t be jiggered. Oh, they’ll try....
Don’t buy it.
I've stood there and watched 3 different times. My buddy suggested control arm bushings. Sounds logical to me. Any thoughts?

I had different tires and rims for a week, loaners from tire shop while waiting on BFG and still had the same issue

Was looking at buying new tires, and I’ve been told BFG’s have had some “separting” issues.
I've heard that as well after purchasing the new tires of course. Bfgoodrich sent another set immediately when I returned to tire shop and while waiting had loaners and still had issues. Not saying first set didnt set off a chain reaction

I had much the same on my 02. FOR YEARS and multiple tire brands. Always had vibration. Even the replacement Dunlop Grand Tracs. Same exact that come on it. Any way... finally a young fellow at Discount Tire actually knew what I was saying and said he knew that I needed to put a "better" higher quality tire on. They had a discount going on with these Bridgestones. And the young guy was right! It drives like brand new.
So.....I guess I really don't know what going on. Maybe you just bought a bad set? But I feel your pain.

I'm not sure if I noticed this because of new tires and always had issue. And I knew they were gonna be louder than the ko1s I had on before. But I've had upper ball joints replaced, new rear shocks(bilstein 5160s highly recommended) and gone threw everything as far as suspension. Next looking into the power steering more than 1st time around

Oh yea....I know what your saying. I had multiple balancing guys say Tacomas are just hard to balance. I couldn't accept that. I even had one of the technicians at the dealership I bought it from tell me "well you know those Tacomas ride rough" I didn't even bother telling him I am talking about vibration not rough ride. So, one time, Discount Tire did a "road match" balance (I think they put down force on the tire and rim as they spin balance) it helped a lot, but was no fix. The only thing that finally made the vibration go away was a new set of higher quality tires.

Good luck. Keep us updated.

I feel your pain.. I've never had a balance issue on the tacoma, but i had a jeep wrangler that no one could get tires balanced correctly on.. I sold that jeep so I guess I fixed the problem. [emoji23]

What kind of tires would fall into that category?

I went through many different brands....still had vibration. I had a guy at a tire shop tell me that he "guaranteed" Michelin" tires wouldn't shake. I asked him if they did vibrate, would he then replace them with a cheaper set. He said nope....couldn't do that. I said "not really a guarantee" and took a chance on another cheaper set. They vibrated. Finally i was talked into these Bridgestone dueler LTH. They are great. And still a little cheaper then Michelin.

I know most/all the fault is mine. I just didn't want to spend so much more money......

What was the strangest is that the original Dunlop Grand Trac radials did great! I even got a lot of miles from the originals. So I went back with them. They vibrated and could never balance. A real head-scratcher. Then I read an article someplace that said that the manufactures get the top notch tires from the tire manufacturers. Then send the lower quality stuff to the discount tire places. I don't know it this is true...

So...still I don't know if any of this makes sense to the other shaking...just what I've been through.

This is one reason I always purchase lifetime rotate and balance policy with my tires. Some tire technicians tend to ignore minor balance issues if the tire is going on the rear of the vehicle. The owner will never know until time to rotate. I just went through this with my truck.

Roger that. Discount Tire has been very good on that. But, they still could never get them balanced.
