2005 Header Advice Needed

Hello everyone!

I’ve got a 2005 1500 5.3L, and I’m thinking about upgrading the headers for more power and a better exhaust note. I’m not looking for a full race setup, just something noticeable but still reliable for daily use.

I’m curious about sound differences between different types, installation headaches, and whether I need to replace gaskets or sensors.

Also, if anyone has experience with O2 sensor placement issues or heat wrap, I’d love to hear.

Any recommendations for headers that strike a good balance between performance, durability, and street friendly characteristics would be super helpful.

For a daily 5.3L, long-tube headers will give you the biggest gains and a deeper sound, but shorties are easier to install and still wake things up.
Expect to replace gaskets and possibly extensions for O2 sensors depending on the brand. Heat wrap can help reduce under-hood temps but isn’t necessary if you run quality headers.
