Why do Tacomas get poor gas mileage $

I wonder how much different it would sound if I just eliminated the resonator in front of the muffler .you'd still have the stock muffler from TRD but get rid of the extra back pressure.

I don't think it would it should breathe better.if u look at the front y-pipe it runs 2 pipes into 1 and they are D shaped back to back then welded into a 2.25 single my buddy said we should make it a smoother transition with a normal Y.he could make one up .

It would probly sound better.....wonder if eliminating it would improve or hurt engine performance.

I figure with all the research that went into these crazy computer ran motors, they'd be set up as good as it gets from the factory. But then people swear by the OV tune.

On my 69 SS 396 Chevelle my exhaust ended about where the rear seat started. Only had a set of headers on it and those tiny round Thrush header mufflers that came with a header mount. No tail pipe at all. I needed to let the Holley 780 dual line breath.

Thats good. I can sometimes get up 24mpg on the highway after 25 min drive but 5 mins on interstate and it start to drop fast. 25 min drive on interstate at 78mph on cruise im lucky to get 18mpg

20 mpg average, 50/50 city / highway. Seen 26 a couple times on flat two lane highway roadtrips doing 50-55.
