noticeable increase in fuel consumption, losing 50 tacoMiles per tank of tacoJuice... what is going on?

You can like the old stuff which was nice in its day, but until you actually own, and drive the newer stuff. The ride, and performance of tacoma's today are like comparing an old 55 chevy to a spaceship. I'll make you forget all about what you had.
I admit I'm useless when it comes to taking pics, but I never needed a camera for anything, but I do need a good vehicle for all my needs....I try not to skimp there. Just finished this morning unloading, and racking in all my truckloads of topsoil...its time to remove my tonneau cover, and flush all the remaining dirt from my bed. What a pita job.

My old '02 Taco is still doing 60 miles a day round trip Monday through Friday sometimes more than that on the days when I go to the bank once a week after work like I did today, then it adds up to about 70 miles! It's a very dependable little truck! Kicks right off as soon as I turn the key!

I have tried to reach in the back bed of newer taco and it is impossible to reach anything in the back without a ladder
And hood is much too big

I took a test ride in a 4th gen some months back....even dragged raced one over a short distance with my 3rd gen. They ride a little nicer than my 3rd gen with that 4 link rear suspension, and make more bottom end once the turbo spools up which takes an extra second or so with. a big mid-range. I was pretty impressed for a 4 banger. If I needed a new truck I'd take a serious look at one, but for now my 3rd gen runs so well, it's not enough to make me buy one yet. For what its worth, the 4th gen reminds me of a baby tundra.
